Explore a century of iconic vampire film—from Murnau to True Blood—through film posters, stills, and art.

This book documents classic vampire cinema--from mainstream to niche--via the myriad forms of marketing and consumption. F.W. Murnau's trailblazing Nosferatu, released in Berlin in March 1922, sparked an illustrious legacy despite being targeted in legal action by Bram Stoker's widow. The classic evolved from Hammer's Dracula/Horror of Dracula and sequels to lesbian vampires of 1970-2020, and finally to supernatural smalltown misfits, eccentric fashionistas, gay icons, and even comic book heroes of 1975-2022. The compendium is skillfully authored by recognized Gothic expert Christopher Frayling, nicknamed the "Van Helsing de nos jours". It features an impressive selection of rare stills, posters, artworks, and press books.
