This postcard was created in celebration of the exhibition Faith Ringgold: American People. Featuring Faith Ringgold's artwork, The Sunflowers Quilting Bee at Arles: The French Collection Part I #4, 1991, this postcard measures at 5 x 7 inches.

Ringgold's artwork, The Sunflowers Quilting Bee at Arles: The French Collection Part I #4, 1991, is the fourth piece in her French Collection. This artwork honors eight influential and prominent African American women in history:  Madam C. J. Walker, Sojourner Truth, Ida Wells, Fannie Lou Hamer, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Mary McLeod Bethune, and Ella Baker. These women are holding the edge of the quilt surrounded by a field of sunflowers as Vincent Van Gough is pictured to the right.

This piece celebrates African American women and their contributions to education, freedom, and justice. Ringgold acknowledges Gogh's contribution to the art world, but emphasizes the inequality of African American women artists or prominent figures.
