This globally diverse publication celebrates the often overlooked perspectives of women throughout the postwar period, highlighting the privilege of painting as a medium for portraiture, which has typically been reserved for white men. From pioneering artists like Emma Amos and Alice Neel to emerging talents such as Jordan Casteel, Somaya Critchlow, and Apolonia Sokol, these women deliberately place the female form, its movements, and its individuality at the forefront.
