Designed by Lauren DiCioccio for Open Editions and made exclusively for the MCA, this tote is from Lauren's Thank You Tote series, which replaces the ubiquitous single-use plastic bags issued by convenience stores with a friendly reminder to reuse and recycle.

Commemorating San Francisco's historic legislation enacting the first plastic bag ban in the USA in 2007, this series now celebrates worldwide efforts to continue the 'ban on the bag'.

Lauren DiCioccio for Open Editions

Lauren DiCioccio lives in San Francisco and works primarily in the media of soft sculpture and embroidery. Her work explores the expressive qualities of cloth and thread; she uses these materials to make objects about empathy, nostalgia, melancholy and joy. Lauren is one of the co-founders of Open Editions.

Open Editions works with contemporary artists to manufacture, wholesale, and retail products that bring art to your daily life. Their goal is to provide artists with passive income in the form of royalty payments, and to provide you with meaningful objects that tell a story about these artists. 90% of Open Editions production expenditures stay in their local San Francisco Bay Area manufacturing community.
