This extensive volume offers a comprehensive exploration of the artist's most well-known and stunning series.

This comprehensive book examines the Infinity Mirror Rooms, a renowned series created by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Through the use of multicolored lights and illusion of infinite space, Kusama's installations have had a profound influence on contemporary art for more than 50 years. From her early unsettling works to her more recent harmonious ones, this definitive publication explores the evolution and symbolism of Kusama's installations and their relevance to modern experiential practices. With generous illustrations and a historical perspective, readers are invited to delve into the impact of this groundbreaking series throughout the artist's career.

Throughout her extensive career, Yayoi Kusama (born 1929) has explored a wide range of mediums, including sculpture, installation, painting, performance, video art, fashion, poetry, and fiction. While she primarily focused on works on paper in her early years in Japan, her move to New York City in the late 1950s marked a shift to avant-garde techniques, such as soft sculpture, that greatly influenced other artists like Warhol and Oldenburg. Kusama also delved into performance-oriented pieces and began incorporating her signature dots during this time. Despite a period of relative obscurity after returning to Japan in 1973, her work was ultimately revived in the 1980s and has since achieved a revered and canonical status in the art world.
