Hailing from Beirut, Lebanon, Helen Zughaib has journeyed through the Middle East and Europe, ultimately settling in the United States. She obtained her BFA from Syracuse University's prestigious College of Visual and Performing Art. Renowned worldwide, her pieces have been showcased in notable art institutions and can be found in esteemed private and public collections, including the White House, the World Bank, and the Library of Congress. Her artwork has been presented as gifts to heads of state by President Obama and former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, and has been displayed in numerous international exhibitions as part of the U.S. Department of State's 'Art in Embassies' program. Recently, Zughaib was granted the esteemed 2021-2024 Inaugural Social Practice Residency by The John F. Kennedy Center/REACH in Washington, DC. Her distinct style blends various art movements and draws inspiration from post-impressionism, pop art, Islamic art motifs, geometric patterns, and floral arabesque. Her work, which centers around themes of cultural identity, family life, displacement, and the plight of refugees - is also focused on creating empathy and cultivating a shared space for introspection and dialogue.
