During the 1970s, while Judy Chicago was engaged in research for The Dinner Party, she developed a keen interest in early cultures that worshiped goddesses. Chicago integrated numerous symbols from these societies into the initial plates on The Dinner Party table. She meticulously crafted a series of miniature goddess images adorning the surface of the Fertile Goddess runner.
Additionally, she created a limited edition of porcelain goddesses for fundraising purposes. The Goddess Figure candle commemorates the feminine divine, marking a celebration of the renewed presence of feminist consciousness and the resurgence in female activism.
