Field Notes honors the city that hosts Field Notes' Midwest headquarters with the Chicago Edition. The cover features their classic French Paper Co. Kraft-Tone 100#C “Standard White Kraft” adorned with Chicago’s iconic sky blue and red flag, recognized by vexillologists as the second finest municipal flag in the U.S. Within, you’ll find Chicago-focused Practical Applications alongside their signature Domtar Lynx 60#T “Bright White” graph paper. Echoing Nelson Algren, Chicago’s affections may be fickle, but your Chicago Field Notes remain a steadfast companion—ideal for documenting everything from Italian beef spots to Blackhawks streaks, local taverns, election dates, and parking dibs.
Materials: Cover: French Kraft-Tone 100#C “Standard White Kraft,” with a brute-force coat of Black, “Haymarket Red,” and “North Branch Blue” soy-based Superior inks. Inside: Domtar Lynx Opaque Ultra 60#T “White,” with a fine, 1-color application of “Lake Michigan Mist” soy-based Superior ink.
Made: Printed and manufactured in the U.S.A
Size: 3½" × 5½"
Field Notes
Rooted in the disappearing tradition of agricultural memo books, embellished pocket ledgers, and the modest elegance of a carefully composed grocery list, the Draplin Design Company of Portland, Oregon, partnered with Chicago’s Coudal Partners to create “FIELD NOTES.” Their intention is to deliver “An honest memo book, worth fillin’ up with good information.” Every FIELD NOTES memo book is produced and printed entirely in the United States.
